HEXACHORDIA Concert in Honing Church

On a sunny Sunday 15 October at 3pm, the medieval and renaissance music trio Hexachordia performed the ‘Puddings and Pies’ Concert in Honing Church. They performed for exactly an hour whilst the audience sat in great comfort with plenty of heating in the church!
Hexachordia’s trademark is to use all sorts of interesting, different musical instruments including the familiar flute and guitar to the unusual gittern, crumhorn and rauschpfeife which the audience much enjoyed being introduced to. They gave a brilliant, varied concert of instrumental music, song and poems centred around our nation’s enjoyment of food and drink over the centuries, ranging from the working man’s fare to the lavish feasts and banquets of the Tudor royal court. Beautiful playing by the trio to which they added the humour of much of the spoken material.
Afterwards the audience and the players enjoyed the chance to chat with plenty of delicious refreshments. All in all, a very happy way to spend a Sunday afternoon with funds raised for Honing church. Definitely one to repeat!
